Gaurav and Swarthi’s Indian Wedding – Nurragingy Reserve, Crystal Room Paradiso Fairfield

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Gaurav and Swarthi’s wedding was a grand affair filled with joy, love and tradition. The reception followed the next day, starting with some fun photos in Nurragingy Reserve and continuing into the evening at Crystal Room Paradiso with plenty of food, laughter and dancing. Here are some of my favourites from the two days.

Swarthi looked stunning in her vibrant fuchsia wedding saree:

Their backyard had been converted into a grand wedding venue, decorated exquisitely by Masters Mandaps.

Gaurav arrived amidst a roar of powerful car motors and smoking rubber, as his friends drove up the street in a convoy of seriously hot cars and bikes:

I think I need to start making more friends who own Ferrari’s:

Some beautiful moments during the ceremony:

An emotional farewell as Swarthi leaves her family as a new bride:

I met Gaurav, Swarthi and their best friends at Nurragingy reserve the following afternoon for some fun and relaxed pre-reception photos.

The guys were looking bored so I made them do a little exercise.

The breathtaking, grand Crystal Room Paradiso:

Did someone say ‘party’ ?

I love how the room lights change colour!

Congratulations Gaurav and Swarthi!

Amro and Gauri’s e-session – Newtown

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

When Gauri and Amro asked me to photograph their e-session in Newtown, I could barely contain my excitement. Their playful nature and utter inability to last for more than five seconds without cracking up laughing, combined with the energy and vibrant colour and textures of Newtown promised to result in some fantastic images. Here are a few of my favourites from the day.

Note for photographers: Most of these photos made use of off-camera lighting. Taking your flash off camera gives you the ability to add another dimension to your images – you are in control of the light.

I love the energy of this image.

My absolute favourite from the day.

Thanks for a great afternoon guys, I’m looking forward to the laughter and joy at your wedding in September.

Elvyn and Nish’s Indian Wedding – Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Rocks

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Elvyn and Nish are down to earth with a strong sense of family, and maintain a deep love and respect for one another. Our conversations leading up to the wedding as well as during their e-session earlier in the year were less about wedding talk and more about our lives and families. Their wedding day was no different – amidst the flurry of activity around Nish as she was getting dressed and made-up, she still sported a wide, cheeky grin.

Elvyn, as always, presented a calm and collected exterior.

We then met up a block away from Nish’s house where the ceremony was to be held – I think this is the most action Pennant Hills has ever seen!

Nish looked flawless:

Married!

We then drove into the heart of the city for some photos around The Rocks and Sydney Opera House:

Sometimes the natural, spotaneous photos turn out the best. I love the mood of this photo.

Congratulations Elvyn and Nish! Stay tuned for part 2 – the reception.

Pooja and Ishu’s e-session – Sydney Harbour Bridge, Rocks, Opera House

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

This was more of a “pre-reception” photo session, as Pooja and Ishu were married in grand style in India earlier in December and came to Sydney to host a reception at Le Montage. Based in London, Pooja met Ishu in India while he was enlisted in the Indian Army. Pooja always has everyone in stitches with her razor sharp wit and self-referential humour. They both never take themselves seriously, love to dance and love each other’s company. Here are some of my favourites from their session, which led us through Sydney’s historic Rocks, Sydney Opera House, Overseas Passenger Terminal and under Sydney Harbour Bridge.

My favourite from the day – I always like to try something a bit different!

Pooja and Ishu – all the very best with your new lives in India.

Rohan and Rennie – Indian Wedding Post Shoot

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Last week I went with Rohan and Rennie to Cabarita park for some post-wedding images. If you remember Chris and I went to Fiji in February to photograph their Indian wedding. It was a really windy day and I felt sorry for Rennie running around in her heavy saree! But we soldiered on and got some beautiful images in the late afternoon light.

They could be models!

Just mucking around …
