Shannon, Mark, Jye + 1 – Maternity and Family Portrait
Wednesday, February 10th, 2010My good friends Shannon and Mark invited Cath and me to their farm in Bathurst for the weekend. For the weeks prior I was giddy at the prospect of photographing portaits of this beautiful family on their own acreage. Cath and I drove up on Friday and spent the weekend drinking wine, taking photos, shooting things (not animals!) and fearing for our lives as Mark tore through creeks and bush in his poor, abused truck.
A note for the photographers out there: all of these images were shot on my Canon 5D MkII with a rented 50mm 1.2L from Miro’s RENTaCAM. Suffice to say I put my order in for this lens not long after!
Jye has grown so much since I photographed him last year – he’s so cheeky!
The beautiful farm – their temporary house is the white building on the right:

Don’t worry, I wasn’t shooting at the ducks (though I have a feeling Mark was!)

We drove around the farm and found some gorgeous long grass to play in:

Jye was obsessed with kissing mummy’s belly – so sweet:

One of my favourite sequences from the weekend – they have such a soft, delicate quality:

On Sunday we ventured out into a field of yellow flowers that I spotted the previous day. Thankfully the sun had come out after a powerful country-style storm the night before.

Hats off to the lovely Cath, who has an innate knack of working with kids – they just love her!

Mark and Shannon, thank you so much for your hospitality and company over the weekend. It was such a pleasure spending time with you and photographing your family.
