My good friends Shannon and Mark invited Cath and me to their farm in Bathurst for the weekend. For the weeks prior I was giddy at the prospect of photographing portaits of this beautiful family on their own acreage. Cath and I drove up on Friday and spent the weekend drinking wine, taking photos, shooting things (not animals!) and fearing for our lives as Mark tore through creeks and bush in his poor, abused truck.

A note for the photographers out there: all of these images were shot on my Canon 5D MkII with a rented 50mm 1.2L from Miro’s RENTaCAM. Suffice to say I put my order in for this lens not long after!

Jye has grown so much since I photographed him last year – he’s so cheeky!

The beautiful farm – their temporary house is the white building on the right:

Don’t worry, I wasn’t shooting at the ducks (though I have a feeling Mark was!)

We drove around the farm and found some gorgeous long grass to play in:

Jye was obsessed with kissing mummy’s belly – so sweet:

One of my favourite sequences from the weekend – they have such a soft, delicate quality:

On Sunday we ventured out into a field of yellow flowers that I spotted the previous day. Thankfully the sun had come out after a powerful country-style storm the night before.

Hats off to the lovely Cath, who has an innate knack of working with kids – they just love her!

Mark and Shannon, thank you so much for your hospitality and company over the weekend. It was such a pleasure spending time with you and photographing your family.

Over the weekend I was asked to photograph Emily’s Holy Communion. It’s a very important step in a child’s life and a proud moment for the family. Emily exudes a beautiful inner peace, surprising maturity and is blessed with an infectiously playful spirit.

My lovely cousin Nimisha is now 7 months pregnant! She couldn’t be more excited about her and Kumar’s first baby. Here’s a few colourful photos I took last weekend of a visibly glowing Nimisha at this very special time in her life.

Jade and Ryan asked me to take some family photos of them with their beautiful daughter, Chloe. We chose Darook Park in Cronulla for its long unspoiled beach, greenery, old weathered boats and rocks. The rain eased up just in time for the photos so we were blessed with some post-rain clear skies and creamy soft light.

Chloe was brimming with energy and personality:

After the wonderful beach photo session with Jamie, Tracy and Jim, I headed back down the south coast to celebrate their latest addition to the family – Matilda.

Here’s a “before” photo of Tracy, three weeks before she was due:

and with her beautiful new daughter:

Matilda was so placid and peaceful in her daddy’s arms:

This is my favourite – a precious connection between a father and his newborn baby girl:

Congratulations Jamie and Tracy!

Kareen and Matt wanted some natural photos of their first born, Lachlan, to capture him at a time where changes happen so quickly.

Look at those big beautiful eyes:

One of my favourites – it looks like he’s about to throw a punch!

Bedtime… such a peaceful moment:

Young couple Todd and Elise had just moved to Narrabeen on Sydney’s north shore. Being fond of the beach, they wanted some portraits of their beautiful little daughters, Tallulah and Eva, taken by the ocean.

Eva and Tallulah are so full of energy:

and love to laugh!

they didn’t hesitate to dive head first into the water either…

I love these calm, peaceful portraits of Eva – she has such striking eyes:

Thanks for a great afternoon and all the best with your new place – can’t wait to see these on canvas!

I had been looking forward to meeting Jamie, Tracy and their lively son, Jim. My lovely girlfriend Cath passed on this job to me – thanks! We decided on a beach shoot as Jamie and Tracy are nature lovers and love taking their son to splash around in the ocean. The weather, the light, and this family’s energy (especially Jim’s) were all perfect. Here are some of my favourites from the day.

They’re expecting their second very soon – how exciting!

Flying baby!

Definitely my favourite – such a sweet moment:

Thanks guys for a great day – looking forward to meeting your next arrival!
