Rakesh and Sunita had agreed to meet me at the Opera House for their afternoon e-session, but due to major road closures were running very late. We managed to get a few great night shots by Sydney’s famous Circular Quay foreshore, and rescheduled a daytime re-shoot a few days later. We had a lot more success the second time round and I got to know Rakesh and Sunita better. They are both warm, loving and humble people. Here are a few favourites from their e-sessions. I’ll post up their wedding photos in a following post.

Shirin and Hansel chose the gorgeous Rocks and Sydney Harbour areas for their e-session. It’s always fun shooting there for the variety and colour of the back streets of the Rocks along with easy access to views of the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House.

Shirin was a little shy at first but before we knew it she was really working it for the camera! Hansel was not camera shy in the least:

I think Shirin was a little embarrassed to be canoodling near a street with lots of passing cars :)

Peter and Claire were married in a simple garden ceremony at McElhone Park Elizabeth Bay, followed by a reception overlooking the city at Quay Restaurant. Photographed for Photos by Jay by the talented Nerida.

I met trendy young couple Preet and Deep on the Opera House steps for their e-session. They were instantly relaxed and at ease in front of the camera, and clearly just love each other’s company.

Note: the “kissing the sun” shot was not my idea :)

The sun peered out from the clouds for just an instant – long enough for me to capture my favourite shot of the afternoon:

Neil and Kate were married in a gorgeous Sydney afternoon at the scenic Bradley’s Head Amphitheatre in Mosman. I met a very relaxed and jovial Kate with the girls at the Marriott and after the ceremony we got some beautiful shots by the iconic St Mary’s Cathedral followed by a romantic, fun-filled evening at the Marriott Sydney Harbour.

Kate looked gorgeous in her simple and elegant Maggie Sottero gown (bridesmaids pictured here reading lace-up instructions found on the internet):

When Adam and Malisha rocked up dressed in vibrant pinks and purples, I knew this e-session was going to be a riot. Malisha had chosen Newtown for it’s wild graffiti and unpredictable environments, which I think suits their personalities to a T.

We kicked off early in the morning in the Rocks and continued to Newtown for some silly antics.

Adam and Malisha, if your e-session is anything to go by, your wedding day in a couple of weeks is going to be twice as fun!

From Sally’s beaming smile which never left her face, to the raucous bridal party, to the tastefully executed pink and black styling, everything about Jak and Sally’s wedding screamed “fun”.

After catching some relaxed photos at Star City, we boarded the elegant Bella Vista cruise boat for a joyful ceremony on the top deck.

Nothing can prepare you for the sheer silliness of Matt and Beck.

Beneath all the crazy, Matt and Beck share a warm-and-fuzzy love.

Beck: “Can Matt chase me around a tree like he does at home?”

Beck to me: “Make sure you get some photos of me poking my tongue out”.

Elvyn and Nish are down to earth with a strong sense of family, and maintain a deep love and respect for one another. Our conversations leading up to the wedding as well as during their e-session earlier in the year were less about wedding talk and more about our lives and families. Their wedding day was no different – amidst the flurry of activity around Nish as she was getting dressed and made-up, she still sported a wide, cheeky grin.

Elvyn, as always, presented a calm and collected exterior.

We then met up a block away from Nish’s house where the ceremony was to be held – I think this is the most action Pennant Hills has ever seen!

Sometimes the natural, spotaneous photos turn out the best. I love the mood of this photo.

This was more of a “pre-reception” photo session, as Pooja and Ishu were married in grand style in India earlier in December and came to Sydney to host a reception at Le Montage. Based in London, Pooja met Ishu in India while he was enlisted in the Indian Army. Pooja always has everyone in stitches with her razor sharp wit and self-referential humour. They both never take themselves seriously, love to dance and love each other’s company. Here are some of my favourites from their session, which led us through Sydney’s historic Rocks, Sydney Opera House, Overseas Passenger Terminal and under Sydney Harbour Bridge.
